لفظوں کے ستم لہجوں کے آزار بہت ہیں
کہنے کو تو اس شہر میں غم خوار بہت ہیں
کچھ اپنے ہی دنیا میں نہیں اتنے زیادہ
کچھ ان میں سے بھی شامل اغیار بہت ہیں
ہر سمت سپیرے ہیں جمائے ہوئے ڈیرے
اس شہر میں سانپوں کے خریدار بہت ہیں
ہر سمت سے طوفان کی آمد کی ہیں خبریں
اب مان لو ہم لوگ گنہ گار بہت ہیں
اک ہم ہی نہیں شہر ستم ساز میں عاطفؔ
بے جرم سزاؤں کے سزاوار بہت ہیں

kahne ko to is shahr mein gham-KHwar bahut hain
kuchh apne hi duniya mein nahin itne ziyaada
kuchh un mein se bhi shamil-e-aghyar bahut hain
har samt sapere hain jamae hue Dere
is shahr mein sanpon ke KHaridar bahut hain
har samt se tufan ki aamad ki hain KHabren
ab man lo hum log gunahgar bahut hain
ek hum hi nahin shahr-e-sitam-saz mein 'atif'
be-jurm sazaon ke saza-war bahut hain
