حریف داستاں کرنا پڑا ہے

حریف داستاں کرنا پڑا ہے

زمیں کو آسماں کرنا پڑا ہے

نکل کر آ گئے ہیں جنگلوں میں

مکاں کو لا مکاں کرنا پڑا ہے

سوا نیزے پہ سورج آ گیا تھا

لہو کو سائباں کرنا پڑا ہے

بہت تاریک تھیں ہستی کی راہیں

بدن کو کہکشاں کرنا پڑا ہے

کسے معلوم لمس ان انگلیوں کا

ہوا کو راز داں کرنا پڑا ہے

وہ شاید کوئی سچی بات کہہ دے

اسے پھر بد گماں کرنا پڑا ہے

میں اپنے سارے پتے فاش کرتا

مگر ایسا کہاں کرنا پڑا ہے

سفر آساں نہیں حرف و قلم کا

ہمیں طے ہفت خواں کرنا پڑا ہے

تھا جس سے اختلاف رائے ممکن

اسی کو مہرباں کرنا پڑا ہے

صف اعدا میں اپنے بازوؤں کو

مجھے اخترؔ کماں کرنا پڑا ہے
