پھرتی ہے زندگی جنازہ بہ دوش

بت بھی چپ ہیں خدا بھی ہے خاموش

کوئی میری طرح جئے تو سہی

زندگی در گلو اجل بر دوش

دیدنی تھی یہ کائنات بہت

ہم بھی کچھ دن رہے خراب ہوش

گھر سے طوف حرم کو نکلا تھا

راہ میں تھی دکان بادہ فروش

اک تعلق قدم کو راہ سے ہے

میں نہ آوارہ ہوں نہ خانہ بدوش

ہم سے غافل نہیں ہیں اہل ستم

اک ذرا تھک کے ہو گئے ہیں خموش

جی میں ہے کوئی آرزو کیجے

یعنی باقی ہے سر میں مستی ہوش

ہے یہ دنیا بہت وسیع تو ہو

میں ہوں اور تیرا حلقۂ آغوش

دل کو روتے کہاں تلک اخترؔ

آخر کار ہو گئے خاموش
