شہر کی ویراں سڑک پر جشن غم کرتے ہوئے
جا رہا ہوں خشکئ مژگاں کو نم کرتے ہوئے
زندگی تنہا سفر پر گامزن ہوتی ہوئی
اور ہم یادوں کو پچھلی ہم قدم کرتے ہوئے
بول اٹھتے ہیں کئی برسوں پرانے زخم بھی
دل ہو جب مصروف اپنی چپ رقم کرتے ہوئے
اس کا بھی کہنا یہی برباد ہو جاؤ گے تم
اور ہم بھی ٹھیک ویسا دم بہ دم کرتے ہوئے
مہربانی لازمی ہے خود بھی اپنی ذات پر
حرج کیسا آپ اپنے پر کرم کرتے ہوئے
دنگ رہ جاؤ گے تم اپنے کرم فرما کو جب
دیکھ لو گے اک دفعہ گھر میں ستم کرتے ہوئے
عین ممکن ہے تڑپ اٹھنا ہمارا ایک دن
یاد میں اللہ کی یاد صنم کرتے ہوئے
جانے کس دم لے اڑے یہ موت کا جھونکا امرؔ
ایک دن خاک بدن کو خود میں ضم کرتے ہوئے
