زندگی اپنی قرینے سے بسر ہوتی نہیں
مختصر کرتا ہوں لیکن مختصر ہوتی نہیں
دے گیا تاریکیاں اتنی وہ اہل شہر کو
سر پہ سورج آ گیا پھر بھی سحر ہوتی نہیں
پہلے اپنے ساتھ چلتے تھے ستارے شوق سے
اب تو اپنی روشنی بھی ہم سفر ہوتی نہیں
اس طرح چپ چاپ میرے پاس آ جاتے ہیں لوگ
گھر کے دروازے کی چوکھٹ کو خبر ہوتی نہیں

pahle apne sath chalte the sitare shauq se
ab to apni raushni bhi ham-safar hoti nahin
is tarah chup-chap mere pas aa jate hain log
ghar ke darwaze ki chaukhaT ko KHabar hoti nahin
