وجہ شہرت تیری آشفتہ سری میری ہے
شہر تیرا ہی سہی در بدری میری ہے
چن لیا لاکھ خداؤں میں پرستش کے لئے
حسن تیرا ہی سہی دیدہ وری میری ہے
ہے خبر موسم سفاک کی ہم کو لیکن
بارش سنگ میں بھی شیشہ گری میری ہے
ہو کے آزاد بھی میں قید قفس ہی میں رہا
ہائے کیا چیز یہ بے بال و پری میری ہے
اب تو مانوس ہوں اس درجہ غموں سے بہزادؔ
بزم احباب میں بھی نوحہ گری میری ہے

shahar tera hi sahi dar-badari meri hai
chun liya lakh KHudaon mein parastish ke liye
husn tera hi sahi dida-wari meri hai
hai KHabar mausam-e-saffak ki hum ko lekin
barish-e-sang mein bhi shishagari meri hai
ho ke aazad bhi main qaid qafas hi mein raha
hae kya chiz ye be-baal-o-pari meri hai
ab to manus hun is darja ghamon se 'bahzad'
bazm-e-ahbab mein bhi nauhagari meri hai
