نہ آنے کے ان کے بہانے بھی دیکھے
بڑے سنگ دل وہ زمانے بھی دیکھے
ادھر بلبلیں رو رہی ہیں قفس کو
کہ صیاد گاتے ترانے بھی دیکھے
غموں کو بھلانے جو نکلے ہیں گھر سے
اسی دھن میں کچھ بادہ خانے بھی دیکھے
نہ پایا انہیں ہو کے مایوس لوٹے
سبھی ہم نے ان کے ٹھکانے بھی دیکھے
کبھی آئے گا وقت مہتابؔ اپنا
بہت ہم نے ان کے زمانے بھی دیکھے
