کیسے کہیں کہ چار طرف دائرہ نہ تھا

جاتے کہاں کہ خود سے پرے راستا نہ تھا

جب سانس لے رہی تھی درختوں کے آس پاس

آواز دے رہی تھی کوئی بولتا نہ تھا

خود سے چلے تو رہگزر آئینہ ہو گئی

اپنے سوائے اور کوئی سوجھتا نہ تھا

اب کے بسنت آئی تو آنکھیں اجڑ گئیں

سرسوں کے کھیت میں کوئی پتہ ہرا نہ تھا

پردہ ہلا کے باد سحر دور تک گئی

خوشبو کدھر سے آئی کسی کو پتا نہ تھا

گزری تمام عمر اسی شہر میں جہاں

واقف سبھی تھے گو کوئی پہچانتا نہ تھا

اے اشکؔ اک کتاب پڑھی تھی ورق ورق

وہ تیرگی تھی لفظ کوئی سوجھتا نہ تھا
