کل رات یوں ہوا کہ پہر دو پہر گئے

کوئی کچھ ایسے چیخ پڑا لوگ ڈر گئے

ڈوبا غریب چاند تو اگنی برس پڑی

وہ دھوپ چمچمائی کہ چہرے اتر گئے

کچھ اجنبی سی لگتی ہیں شاخیں ہری بھری

تھا جن پہ تیرا سایہ وہ پتے کدھر گئے

سپنوں کی کھوج ہی میں کٹے گی یہ رات بھی

ایسی ہوا چلی ہے کہ بادل بکھر گئے

اس سال جن دنوں میں ترا قرب تھا نصیب

آئی نہ تیری یاد وہ دن بھی گزر گئے

راہوں میں یوں نہ بیٹھ رہیں خانماں خراب

جن کی نظر ہوئی تھی وہ سب لوگ گھر گئے

یوں تو وہ دیکھنے کو تھا سادہ سا آدمی

جو لوگ لٹ گئے وہ کسی بات پر گئے

برسوں ہی اس نے پھول کھلائے ہیں دھوپ میں

اک عمر ہو چلی ہے جسے بام پر گئے
