مجھے معصومیت سے دیکھتا ہے

وہ دھوکا کھائے ہے یا دے رہا ہے

میں کتنا اجنبی ہوں اپنی خاطر

مجھے ہر آدمی پہچانتا ہے

عجب ہے تیری یک رنگی کہ پیارے

جہاں تک دیکھتا ہوں آئنہ ہے

ہماری بھوک سے بھوکی ہے دنیا

ہماری پیاس سے صحرا بنا ہے

نکل بھی لو کہ اس بستی میں اکثر

دریچوں سے سمندر جھانکتا ہے

وہ اپنے ہاتھ پر مہندی رچا کر

مقدر کی لکیریں ڈھونڈھتا ہے

ترے ہونٹوں کی نم گولائیوں میں

نہ جانے کس کے دکھ کا ذائقہ ہے

کہیں پاشیؔ کہیں علویؔ کہیں اشکؔ

بس اک دکھ ہے مگر کئی طرح کا ہے
