چمکتے سورج اچھالتے تھے کہاں گئے وہ

چمکتے سورج اچھالتے تھے کہاں گئے وہ
جو شامیں صبحوں میں ڈھالتے تھے کہاں گئے وہ
بدن میں لرزش کہ دن ڈھلا جا رہا ہے پھر سے
جو دن سے گردش نکالتے تھے کہاں گئے وہ
ابھی تو ہاتھوں میں حدتیں ان کے ہاتھ کی ہیں
ابھی تو ہم کو سنبھالتے تھے کہاں گئے وہ
اتارتے تھے غبار لیل و نہار رخ سے
اور آئنوں کو اجالتے تھے کہاں گئے وہ
وہ شاخچے چھو کے سبز کرنے کے فن سے واقف
جو پھول ہاتھوں میں پالتے تھے کہاں گئے وہ
جو اسم پڑھتے تھے روشنی کا سیہ شبوں میں
جو لو چراغوں میں ڈالتے تھے کہاں گئے وہ

utarte the ghubar-e-lail-o-nihaar ruKH se
aur aainon ko ujalte the kahan gae wo
wo shaKHche chhu ke sabz karne ke fan se waqif
jo phul hathon mein palte the kahan gae wo
jo ism paDhte the raushni ka siyah-shabon mein
jo lau charaghon mein Dalte the kahan gae wo
