ذکر شب کے سعید ہو گئے کیا
سحر سائے بعید ہو گئے کیا
درد کن سے کشید ہو گئے کیا
خواب شب سے خرید ہو گئے کیا
زندگی کیوں ہے لرزہ بر اندام
زلزلے بھی شدید ہو گئے کیا
کوئی باقی نہیں طلسم جمال
عشق والے شہید ہو گئے کیا
ادب آداب کے زمانے گئے
سلسلے کچھ مزید ہو گئے کیا
ہجر ہجرت ملال غم آثار
زندگی کی نوید ہو گئے کیا
نہ کوئی مصلحت نہ بے باکی
فرد فرحتؔ فرید ہو گئے کیا

zindagi kyun hai larza-bar-andam

koi baqi nahin tilism-e-jamal
ishq wale shahid ho gae kya
adab-adab ke zamane gae
silsile kuchh mazid ho gae kya
hijr hijrat malal gham aasar
zindagi ki nawed ho gae kya
na koi maslahat na bebaki
