ایک گھر اپنے لیے تیار کرنا ہے مجھے

اور اک بستی کو بھی مسمار کرنا ہے مجھے

اس اندھیرے میں چھپانا ہے کوئی دشمن مگر

اس اجالے میں کسی پر وار کرنا ہے مجھے

ایک ندی کے کنارے پر ٹھہرنے کے لیے

شام ہونے تک یہ دریا پار کرنا ہے مجھے

ڈھونڈ لایا ہوں خوشی کی چھاؤں جس کے واسطے

ایک غم سے بھی اسے دو چار کرنا ہے مجھے

باندھنی ہے آخری اک چال سے ساری بساط

اور اس کا داؤ بھی بے کار کرنا ہے مجھے

کس سمندر میں اترنا ہے پڑاؤ کے لیے

کس نگر کو اب گلے کا ہار کرنا ہے مجھے

ایک خواہش ہے جو شاید عمر بھر پوری نہ ہو

ایک سپنے سے ہمیشہ پیار کرنا ہے مجھے

ایک جھونکے کو رواں رکھنا ہے صحن باغ میں

ایک گل کو شامل گفتار کرنا ہے مجھے

ایک انجانی صدا کی کھوج میں چلتے ہوئے

ایک مبہم ربط کو دیوار کرنا ہے مجھے
