یہ اجڑے باغ ویرانے پرانے

سناتے ہیں کچھ افسانے پرانے

اک آہ سرد بن کر رہ گئے ہیں

وہ بیتے دن وہ یارانے پرانے

جنوں کا ایک ہی عالم ہو کیوں کر

نئی ہے شمع پروانے پرانے

نئی منزل کی دشواری مسلم

مگر ہم بھی ہیں دیوانے پرانے

ملے گا پیار غیروں ہی میں جالبؔ

کہ اپنے تو ہیں بیگانے پرانے
