آباد کب ہوئے تھے کہ برباد ہم ہوئے

ہوتا ہے شاد کام یہاں کون با ضمیر

ناشاد ہم ہوئے تو بہت شاد ہم ہوئے

پرویز کے جلال سے ٹکرائے ہم بھی ہیں

یہ اور بات ہے کہ نہ فرہاد ہم ہوئے

کچھ ایسے بھا گئے ہمیں دنیا کے درد و غم

کوئے بتاں میں بھولی ہوئی یاد ہم ہوئے

جالبؔ تمام عمر ہمیں یہ گماں رہا

اس زلف کے خیال سے آزاد ہم ہوئے
