ہم نے بھی آہ آہ نہ کی ہم بھی چپ رہے

آیا نہ ان کو عہد ملاقات کا لحاظ

ہم نے بھی کوئی چاہ نہ کی ہم بھی چپ رہے

دیکھا کئے ہماری طرف بزم غیر میں

تجدید رسم و راہ نہ کی ہم بھی چپ رہے

تھا زندگی سے بڑھ کے ہمیں وضع کا خیال

جب عمر نے نباہ نہ کی ہم بھی چپ رہے

خاموش ہو گئیں جو امنگیں شباب کی

پھر جرأت گناہ نہ کی ہم بھی چپ رہے

مغرور تھا کمال سخن پر بہت حفیظؔ

ہم نے بھی واہ واہ نہ کی ہم بھی چپ رہے
