بے ارادہ کوچۂ قاتل میں جانا پڑ گیا

پھر ہمیں اپنا مقدر آزمانا پڑ گیا

کیا کرو گے جب کبھی شہر تمنا میں تمہیں

ہم سے بے آباد لوگوں کو بسانا پڑ گیا

اپنے بگڑے خال و خد کو آئنے میں دیکھ کر

آئنہ اک آئینہ گر کو دکھانا پڑ گیا

دیکھ کر اس کا رویہ خود بجھایا تھا جسے

وہ چراغ آرزو پھر سے جلانا پڑ گیا

حدت جذبات سے جلنے لگا تھا تن بدن

پھر تھپک کر ان شراروں کو سلانا پڑ گیا

کیا کہیں ہم موسموں کے دیوتا کو کس لیے

دشت و صحرا میں بگولوں کو سجانا پڑ گیا

دیکھنا اہل چمن شاہدؔ بلائیں گے ہمیں

جب چمن کو باد‌ صر‌صر سے بچانا پڑ گیا
