ہر شخص یہاں مجھ کو بیمار سا لگتا ہے

اس شہر میں اب جینا آزار سا لگتا ہے

سوچوں کی دکانیں ہیں یادوں کے کھلونے ہیں

سینے میں مرے کوئی بازار سا لگتا ہے

دیکھا تمہیں جب سے احساس کے آنگن میں

ہر جذبۂ خوابیدہ بیدار سا لگتا ہے

اب راہ محبت میں چلنا ہے بہت مشکل

اس راہ کا ہر پتھر کہسار سا لگتا ہے

مانا کہ ترے لب پر الفاظ تو اچھے ہیں

لیکن یہ ترا لہجہ تلوار سا لگتا ہے

کچھ شہر کے دکھڑے ہیں کچھ گھر کے مسائل ہیں

مجھ کو یہ ترا خط بھی اخبار سا لگتا ہے

حالات نے بھر دی ہے تلخی سی طبیعت میں

اب کار سخن سازی دشوار سا لگتا ہے

دراصل وہ کیسا ہے یہ بعد کی باتیں ہیں

چہرے سے مگر شاہدؔ غم خوار سا لگتا ہے
