دیکھا نہیں چاند نے پلٹ کر

ہم سو گئے خواب سے لپٹ کر

اب دل میں وہ سب کہاں ہے دیکھو

بغداد کہانیوں سے ہٹ کر

شاید یہ شجر وہی ہو جس پر

دیکھو تو ذرا ورق الٹ کر

اک خوف زدہ سا شخص گھر تک

پہنچا کئی راستوں میں بٹ کر

کاغذ پہ وہ نظم کھل اٹھی ہے

اگ آیا ہے پھر درخت کٹ کر

بابرؔ یہ پرند تھک گئے تھے

بیٹھے ہیں جو خاک پر سمٹ کر
