خموش رہ کے زوال سخن کا غم کئے جائیں

سوال یہ ہے کہ یوں کتنی دیر ہم کئے جائیں

یہ نقش گر کے لیے سہل بھی نہ ہو شاید

کہ ہم سے اور بھی اس خاک پر رقم کئے جائیں

کئی گزشتہ زمانے کئی شکستہ نجوم

جو دسترس میں ہیں لفظوں میں کیسے ضم کئے جائیں

یہ گوشوارے زباں کے بہت سنبھال چکے

سو شعر کاٹ دیے جائیں خواب کم کئے جائیں

تیرا خیال بھی آئے تو کتنی دیر تلک

کئی غزال مرے دشت دل میں رم کئے جائیں

میں جانتا ہوں یہ ممکن نہیں مگر اے دوست

میں چاہتا ہوں کہ وہ خواب پھر بہم کئے جائیں

حساب دل کا رکھیں ہم کہ دہر کا بابرؔ

شمار داغ کئے جائیں یا درم کئے جائیں
