سب سمجھتے ہیں کہ ہم کس کارواں کے لوگ ہیں

پھر بھی پوچھا جا رہا ہے ہم کہاں کے لوگ ہیں

ملت بیضا نے یہ سیکھا ہے صد ہا سال میں

یہ یہاں کے لوگ ہیں اور وہ وہاں کے لوگ ہیں

خالی پیمانے لیے بیٹھے ہیں رندان کرام

مے کدہ ان کا ہے جو پیر مغاں کے لوگ ہیں

ان سے مت پوچھو کہ منزل تم سے کیوں چھینی گئی

ان کو مت چھیڑو یہ میر کارواں کے لوگ ہیں

گل فروشی سے انہیں ہم روکنے والے ہیں کون

ہم چمن کے لوگ ہیں وہ باغباں کے لوگ ہیں

اپنے دشمن سے ہمیں اقبالؔ کوئی ڈر نہیں

ان سے بے شک خوف ہے جو درمیاں کے لوگ ہیں
