وہ اس جہان سے حیران جایا کرتے ہیں

جو اپنے آپ کو پہچان جایا کرتے ہیں

جو صرف ایک ٹھکانے سے تیرے واقف ہیں

تری گلی میں وہ نادان جایا کرتے ہیں

کسی کے ہونے نہ ہونے کے بارے میں اکثر

اکیلے پن میں بڑے دھیان جایا کرتے ہیں

میں اب کبھی نہ دکھوں گا کسی کے مرنے سے

کہ شب گزار کے مہمان جایا کرتے ہیں

جو اصل بات ہے اس کو چھپانے کی خاطر

کبھی کبھی غلطی مان جایا کرتے ہیں

یہ بات آتے ہوئے سوچتا نہیں کوئی

کہ سب یہاں سے پریشان جایا کرتے ہیں

جمالؔ ہم تو تجھے یہ بھی اب نہیں کہتے

کبھی کسی کا کہا مان جایا کرتے ہیں
