پھر بنیں گی مسجدیں مے خانہ تیرے شہر میں

آج پھر ٹوٹیں گی تیرے گھر کی نازک کھڑکیاں

آج پھر دیکھا گیا دیوانہ تیرے شہر میں

جرم ہے تیری گلی سے سر جھکا کر لوٹنا

کفر ہے پتھراؤ سے گھبرانا تیرے شہر میں

شاہ نامے لکھے ہیں کھنڈرات کی ہر اینٹ پر

ہر جگہ ہے دفن اک افسانہ تیرے شہر میں

کچھ کنیزیں جو حریم ناز میں ہیں باریاب

مانگتی ہیں جان و دل نذرانہ تیرے شہر میں

ننگی سڑکوں پر بھٹک کر دیکھ جب مرتی ہے رات

رینگتا ہے ہر طرف ویرانہ تیرے شہر میں
