کس قیامت کی گھٹا چھائی ہے
دل کی ہر چوٹ ابھر آئی ہے
درد بدنام تمنا رسوا
عشق رسوائی ہی رسوائی ہے
اس نے پھر یاد کیا ہے شاید
دل دھڑکنے کی صدا آئی ہے
زلف و رخسار کا منظر توبہ
شام اور صبح کی یکجائی ہے
ہم سے چھپ چھپ کے سنورنے والے
چشم آئینہ تماشائی ہے
دل تمنا سے ہے کتنا بے زار
ٹھوکریں کھا کے سمجھ آئی ہے
تم سے ماہرؔ کو نہیں کوئی گلہ
اس نے قسمت ہی بری پائی ہے

us ne phir yaad kiya hai shayad
dil dhaDakne ki sada aai hai
zulf o ruKHsar ka manzar tauba
sham aur subh ki yakjai hai
hum se chhup chhup ke sanwarne wale
chashm-e-aina tamashai hai
dil tamanna se hai kitna be-zar
Thokaren kha ke samajh aai hai
tum se 'mahir' ko nahin koi gila
us ne qismat hi buri pai hai
