دھوپ اتری ہے نہ راہوں میں گھنا سایہ ہے
اب ترے بعد ترے شہر میں کیا رکھا ہے
یوں تو تنہائی کا احساس ازل سے ہے ہمیں
کچھ دنوں سے تو دل زار بہت تنہا ہے
چاندنی ہو کا سماں ایک چھناکے کی صدا
جھیل کا آئنہ کیا پچھلے پہر ٹوٹا ہے
رت جگے ایسے منائے ہیں کہ جی جانتا ہے
جام مہتاب کو آنکھوں نے بہت چوما ہے
دل مضراب کی دھڑکن ہے ابھی میرا وجود
تو نے وہ نغمہ سنا کب ہے جو نا پیدا ہے
مقتل شہر میں سر ہیں کہ صلیبوں کے ہجوم
خوں کا دریا ہے کہ تا حد نظر ٹھہرا ہے
زندگی ریت کے ٹیلے کی طرح ہے خاورؔ
آرزو جیسے کوئی آہوئے بے پروا ہے

ab tere baad tere shahr mein kya rakha hai
yun to tanhai ka ehsas azal se hai hamein
kuchh dinon se to dil-e-zar bahut tanha hai
chandni hu ka saman ek chhanake ki sada
jhil ka aaina kya pichhle pahar TuTa hai
ratjage aise manae hain ki ji jaanta hai
jam-e-mahtab ko aankhon ne bahut chuma hai
dil-e-mizrab ki dhaDkan hai abhi mera wajud
tu ne wo naghma suna kab hai jo na-paida hai
maqtal-e-shahr mein sar hain ki salibon ke hujum
KHun ka dariya hai ki ta-hadd-e-nazar Thahra hai
zindagi ret ke Tile ki tarah hai 'KHawar'
aarzu jaise koi aahu-e-be-parwa hai
