میں اس کو بھول جاؤں یہ حق دے گیا مجھے
اس سے بچھڑ کے ہو گیا دنیا شناس میں
وہ سارے زندگی کے سبق دے گیا مجھے
پہلے تو اس نے ہاتھ میں میرے قلم دیا
پھر چلتے چلتے سادہ ورق دے گیا مجھے
خود تو وہ جا کے خاک کے بستر پہ سو گیا
اپنی بلندیوں کے افق دے گیا مجھے
کتنے حسین اس کی محبت کے رنگ تھے
جب شام ہو گئی تو شفق دے گیا مجھے

phir chalte chalte sada waraq de gaya mujhe
KHud to wo ja ke KHak ke bistar pe so gaya
apni bulandiyon ke ufaq de gaya mujhe
kitne hasin us ki mohabbat ke rang the
jab sham ho gai to shafaq de gaya mujhe
