چہرہ اداس اداس تھا میلا لباس تھا

چہرہ اداس اداس تھا میلا لباس تھا

کیا دن تھے جب خیال تمنا لباس تھا

عریاں زمانہ گیر شررگوں جبلتیں

کچھ تھا تو ایک برگ دل ان کا لباس تھا

اس موڑ پر ابھی جسے دیکھا ہے کون تھا

سنبھلی ہوئی نگاہ تھی سادہ لباس تھا

یادوں کے دھندلے دیس کھلی چاندنی میں رات

تیرا سکوت کس کی صدا کا لباس تھا

ایسے بھی لوگ ہیں جنہیں پرکھا تو ان کی روح

بے پیرہن تھی جسم سراپا لباس تھا

صدیوں کے گھاٹ پر بھرے میلوں کی بھیڑ میں

اے درد شادماں ترا کیا کیا لباس تھا

دیکھا تو دل کے سامنے سایوں کے جشن میں

ہر عکس آرزو کا انوکھا لباس تھا

امجدؔ قبائے شہ تھی کہ چولا فقیر کا

ہر بھیس میں ضمیر کا پردا لباس تھا
