پھر تو سب ہم درد بہت افسوس کے ساتھ یہ کہتے تھے

خود ہی لڑے بھنور سے کیوں زحمت کی ہم جو بیٹھے تھے

دلوں کے علموں سے وہ اجالا تھا ہر چہرہ کالا تھا

یوں تو کسی نے اپنے بھید کسی کو نہیں بتائے تھے

ماتھے جب سجدوں سے اٹھے تو صفوں صفوں جو فرشتے تھے

سب اس شہر کے تھے اور ہم ان سب کے جاننے والے تھے

اہل حضور کی بات نہ پوچھو کبھی کبھی ان کے دن بھی

سوز صفا کی اک صفراوی اکتاہٹ میں کٹتے تھے

قالینوں پر بیٹھ کے عظمت والے سوگ میں جب روئے

دیمک لگے ضمیر اس عزت غم پر کیا اترائے تھے

جن کی جیبھ کے کنڈل میں تھا نیش عقرب کا پیوند

لکھا ہے ان بدسخنوں کی قوم پہ اژدر برسے تھے

جن کے لہو سے نکھر رہی ہیں یہ سرسبز ہمیشگیاں

ازلوں سے وہ صادق جذبوں طیب رزقوں والے تھے
