جانب کوچہ و بازار نہ دیکھا جائے

غور سے شہر کا کردار نہ دیکھا جائے

کھڑکیاں بند کریں چھپ کے گھروں میں بیٹھیں

کیا سماں ہے پس دیوار نہ دیکھا جائے

سرخیاں خون میں ڈوبی ہیں سب اخباروں کی

آج کے دن کوئی اخبار نہ دیکھا جائے

شہر کا شہر گنہ گار تو ہو سکتا ہے

جب کہیں کوئی گنہ گار نہ دیکھا جائے

دشت سے کم نہیں ویراں کوئی بستی مخمورؔ

یہ ہجوم در و دیوار نہ دیکھا جائے
