خوار و رسوا نہ سر کوچہ و بازار ملے

ہے یہی عشق کا اعزاز سر دار ملے

زندگی سے یہ رہا اپنی ملاقات کا حال

کسی بیزار سے جیسے کوئی بیزار ملے

ہم سے پہلے بھی یہ افسانہ بیاں ہوتا تھا

کتنے غم پھر بھی ہمیں تشنۂ‌ اظہار ملے

زندگی نے کوئی آئینہ دکھایا جب بھی

اپنے چہرے پہ ہمیں موت کے آثار ملے

فکر تعبیر میں نیند اڑ گئی دیوانوں کی

خواب اپنے ہی ان آنکھوں میں جو بیدار ملے

مسکراتے ہوئے چہروں پہ نہ جاؤ مخمورؔ

شاید ان میں بھی کوئی تم سا دل افگار ملے
