عمر گزری کہ تری دھن میں چلا تھا دریا

جا بہ جا گھومتا ہے آج بھی پگلا دریا

بنتی جاتی ہیں گہر کتنی ہی بھولی یادیں

یہ مرا دل ہے کہ ٹھہرا ہوا گہرا دریا

نہ کسی موج کا نغمہ ہے نہ گرداب کا رقص

جانے کیا بات ہے خاموش ہے سارا دریا

تھل کے سینے پہ پگھل جاتی ہے جب چاند کی برف

دور تک ریت پہ بہتا ہے سنہرا دریا

ہائے وہ رنگ بھرے پیار کے مسکن پتن

ہائے وہ ناؤ سے رہ رہ کے لپٹتا دریا

شامؔ آکاش پہ جب پھیلتا ہے دن کا لہو

ڈوب جاتا ہے کسی سوچ میں بہتا دریا
