کم الجھتی ہے چراغوں سے ہوا میرے بعد

شہر میں شہر کا موسم نہ رہا میرے بعد

میں نے جل کر نہ دیا مصلحت وقت کا ساتھ

کیا خبر کون جلا کون بجھا میرے بعد

سچ کی خاطر سر شعلہ بھی زباں رکھ دیتا

بات یہ ہے کوئی مجھ سا نہ رہا میرے بعد

ڈوبنا تھا سو میں اک موج میں پس ڈوب گیا

اور دریا تھا کہ بہتا ہی رہا میرے بعد

پھر کوئی شام شفق دیدہ بھی اتری کہ نہیں

میری تنہائی کا کیا رنگ ہوا میرے بعد

اور کیا حشر تھا اس انجمن افروزی کا

بس یہی تھا کہ دھواں اور بڑھا میرے بعد

یوں میں آسودۂ منزل ہوں کہ اب گرد سفر

چومتی ہے مرا نقش کف پا میرے بعد

کیا برا وقت پڑا شہر وفا پر محشرؔ

مجھ کو ہی ڈھونڈتی ہے میری وفا میرے بعد
