کون آشنا ہے کس پہ نظر جائے شہر میں

آخر غریب شہر کدھر جائے شہر میں

شیشوں سے ہار کر طلب سنگ میں کوئی

سمٹے تو ریزہ ریزہ بکھر جائے شہر میں

اتنا بھی تنگ عرصۂ جاں شہر پر نہ کر

روز اک قبیلہ جاں سے گزر جائے شہر میں

اب تک قدم ہی دھوپ میں ٹھہرے ہیں اس طرف

تو چھاؤں دے تو دل بھی ٹھہر جائے شہر میں

صحرا کی آگ پکے گھروں تک تو آ گئی

اب یہ بھڑکتی آگ جدھر جائے شہر میں

اتنا نہ سوچتا چلے بازار میں کوئی

گھر اس کا منتظر ہو وہ مر جائے شہر میں
