اب جو اک حسرت جوانی ہے

عمر رفتہ کی یہ نشانی ہے

رشک یوسف ہے آہ وقت عزیز

عمر اک بار کاروانی ہے

گریہ ہر وقت کا نہیں بے ہیچ

دل میں کوئی غم نہانی ہے

ہم قفس زاد قیدی ہیں ورنہ

تا چمن ایک پرفشانی ہے

اس کی شمشیر تیز ہے ہمدم

مر رہیں گے جو زندگانی ہے

غم و رنج و الم نکو یاں سے

سب تمہاری ہی مہربانی ہے

خاک تھی موجزن جہاں میں اور

ہم کو دھوکا یہ تھا کہ پانی ہے

یاں ہوئے میرؔ تم برابر خاک

واں وہی ناز و سرگرانی ہے
