عالم ہو ترے وحشی نے جب آباد کیا
عرش کو پھونک دیا فرش کو برباد کیا
تیرے جلوے نے دل زار کو آباد کیا
تو ہمیں بھول گیا ہم نے تجھے یاد کیا
یہ پس گریہ و زاری خلش پا کیسی
شاید اب وادئ وحشت نے مجھے یاد کیا
چند تنکے تھے فقط میرا نشیمن کیا تھا
ان پہ بھی برق گری ان کو بھی برباد کیا
ہم سے پوچھے کوئی انجام محبت کیا ہے
ہم نے عالم تہ و بالا دم فریاد کیا
اپنی ناکامی تقدیر پہ رونے والے
وعدۂ روز ازل تو نے کبھی یاد کیا
تھی یہی عاقبت اندیشیٔ دل اے ظاہرؔ
مجھ کو بے فائدہ کم بخت نے برباد کیا

arsh ko phunk diya farsh ko barbaad kiya
tere jalwe ne dil-e-zar ko aabaad kiya
tu hamein bhul gaya hum ne tujhe yaad kiya
ye pas-e-girya-o-zari KHalish-e-pa kaisi
shayad ab wadi-e-wahshat ne mujhe yaad kiya
chand tinke the faqat mera nasheman kya tha
un pe bhi barq giri un ko bhi barbaad kiya
hum se puchhe koi anjam-e-mohabbat kya hai
hum ne aalam tah-o-baala dam-e-fariyaad kiya
apni nakaami-e-taqdir pe rone wale
wada-e-roz-e-azal tu ne kabhi yaad kiya
thi yahi aaqibat-andeshi-e-dil ai 'zahir'
mujh ko be-faeda kam-baKHt ne barbaad kiya
