موت سے یاری نہ تھی ہستی سے بے زاری نہ تھی

اس سفر پر چل دیئے ہم جس کی تیاری نہ تھی

ہم اسی کی خاک سے اٹھے ہیں کندن بن کے آج

دوستو جس شہر میں رسم وفاداری نہ تھی

ہم نے خون آرزو دے کر منقش کر دیا

ورنہ دیوار طلب پر ایسی گلکاری نہ تھی

مر گئے سر پھوڑ کے دیوار زنداں سے اسیر

زندگی کنج قفس میں موت سے پیاری نہ تھی

اب شکست آرزو ہے باعث تسکین دل

اس سے پہلے تو کبھی یہ کیفیت طاری نہ تھی

جل رہا ہے ہر نفس اب اپنے غم کی آنچ سے

سانس لینے میں کبھی محسنؔ یہ دشواری نہ تھی
