کہ راستے تھے نئے ہم سفر پرانے تھے

میں اڑ رہا تھا فضا میں اک احتیاط کے ساتھ

مجھے خبر تھی مرے بال و پر پرانے تھے

تمام شہر نئی روشنی میں تھا ملبوس

مگر گھروں کے سبھی بام و در پرانے تھے

مجھے تلاش ہمیشہ نئے چراغوں کی تھی

کہ آسمانوں کے شمس و قمر پرانے تھے

تھی جن کی لو سے دیار سخن میں تابانی

وہ طاق طاق چراغ ہنر پرانے تھے
