وہ لاکھ پوچھے اگر تجھ سے خیریت میری
نہ کہنا اس سے صبا تو یہ کیفیت میری
میں ایک لمحہ ہوں گزرے ہوئے زمانے کا
تمہیں خبر ہی نہیں کیا ہے اہمیت میری
میں ڈوبا رہتا ہوں فکر سخن کے دریا میں
کوئی تو دیکھے ذرا آ کے محویت میری
تمہارے پیار نے مشہور کر دیا ورنہ
میں اک غریب بھلا کیا ہے حیثیت میری
پئے ہیں شکر ادا کرکے صبر کے ساغر
ہوئی ہے سایۂ صابر میں تربیت میری
میں اپنی ماں کے قدم چوم کر نکلتا ہوں
اسی لئے تو چمکتی ہے شخصیت میری
ضرور مجھ میں چھپا ہے جمیلؔ وہ آ کر
بنی ہے رشک کے قابل جو شخصیت میری

tumhein KHabar hi nahin kya hai ahmiyat meri
main Duba rahta hun fikr-e-suKHan ke dariya mein
koi to dekhe zara aa ke mahwiyat meri
tumhaare pyar ne mashhur kar diya warna
main ek gharib bhala kya hai haisiyat meri
piye hain shukr ada karke sabr ke saghar
hui hai saya-e-sabir mein tarbiyat meri
main apni man ke qadam chum kar nikalta hun
isi liye to chamakti hai shaKHsiyat meri
zarur mujh mein chhupa hai 'jamil' wo aa kar
bani hai rashk ke qabil jo shaKHsiyat meri
