یقیں نے مجھ کو اسیر‌ گماں نہ رہنے دیا

کہ اس نے ربط کوئی درمیاں نہ رہنے دیا

مری نظر ہی سمندر کی آخری حد تھی

مری تھکن نے مجھے پرفشاں نہ رہنے دیا

کسی نے کشتی اتاری تو تھی سمندر میں

مگر ہوا نے کوئی بادباں نہ رہنے دیا

کوئی تو برف بکف دشت کی طرف آیا

کسی نے بحر میں پانی رواں نہ رہنے دیا

ہر ایک لفظ میں یوں کر دیا لہو شامل

کہ داستاں کو فقط داستاں نہ رہنے دیا

نجیبؔ کس طرح جاگیں کہ ان اندھیروں نے

سحر کا تارا سر آسماں نہ رہنے دیا
