ابتدا درد ہے انتہا درد ہے

عشق کا درد تو لا دوا درد ہے

میں نے پوچھا وفا کا صلہ جو کبھی

اس نے ہنس کر یہ مجھ سے کہا درد ہے

پیار سے عشق تک جا بجا روشنی

پیار سے عشق تک جا بجا درد ہے

یہ نیا پھول ہے اور یہ خوشبو نئی

یہ نئی شام ہے اور نیا درد ہے

زخم کیسا ہے بھرتا نہیں ہے کبھی

درد ہوتا نہیں ہے یہ کیا درد ہے

میں تو ڈرنے لگی اس کی تعبیر سے

پیار آنکھوں میں جب سے بنا درد ہے

ایک پل میں کہاں کھو گئی ہے خوشی

اب تو الفت کی بس اک سزا درد ہے

چھوڑ شاہیںؔ وفا کا تو اب تذکرہ

بے وفا ہے خوشی با وفا درد ہے
