خامشی باعث رسوائی نہیں ہوتی ہے
مستقل بولنا دانائی نہیں ہوتی ہے
ہر جگہ دل کے پھپھولے نہیں پھوڑا کرتے
ہر جگہ زخم پہ ترپائی نہیں ہوتی ہے
ہم غریبوں کے نوالوں پہ اثر پڑتا ہے
ہر کسی کے لیے مہنگائی نہیں ہوتی ہے
وقت آنے پہ بدل جاتے ہیں رشتے کتنے
ایک ماں ہے کہ جو ہرجائی نہیں ہوتی ہے
اس لیے رہ گئے احباب سے پیچھے اشرفؔ
ہم سے یہ قافیہ پیمائی نہیں ہوتی ہے

waqt aane pe badal jate hain rishte kitne
ek man hai ki jo harjai nahin hoti hai
is liye rah gae ahbab se pichhe 'ashraf'
hum se ye qafiya-paimai nahin hoti hai
