جو ہوا وہ نہ ہوا ہوتا یہ غم باقی ہے

اب نہ وہ چھت ہے نہ وہ زینہ نہ انگور کی بیل

صرف اک اس کو بھلانے کی قسم باقی ہے

میں نے پوچھا تھا سبب پیڑ کے گر جانے کا

اٹھ کے مالی نے کہا اس کی قلم باقی ہے

جنگ کے فیصلے میداں میں کہاں ہوتے ہیں

جب تلک حافظے باقی ہیں علم باقی ہے

تھک کے گرتا ہے ہرن صرف شکاری کے لیے

جسم گھائل ہے مگر آنکھوں میں رم باقی ہے
