پہلے کچھ دن مرے زخموں کی نمائش ہوگی

پہلے کچھ دن مرے زخموں کی نمائش ہوگی

پھر مرے حال پہ اس بت کی نوازش ہوگی

ہاں بظاہر تو دھرا جائے گا قاتل لیکن

پس پردہ اسی قاتل کی سفارش ہوگی

پیاسی دھرتی یوں ہی پیاسی ہی رہے گی یارو

اور دریا پہ مسلسل یہاں بارش ہوگی

جس طرح ٹوٹے ہوئے پتے بکھر جاتے ہیں

ہم بکھر جائیں اسی طور یہ سازش ہوگی

کس کو معلوم ہے جو راز مشیت ہے عبیدؔ

جانے کس بات پہ کس شخص کی بخشش ہوگی

phir mere haal pe us but ki nawazish hogi

han ba-zahir to dhara jaega qatil lekin
pas-e-parda usi qatil ki sifarish hogi

pyasi dharti yunhi pyasi hi rahegi yaro
aur dariya pe musalsal yahan barish hogi

jis tarah TuTe hue patte bikhar jate hain
hum bikhar jaen usi taur ye sazish hogi

kis ko malum hai jo raaz-e-mashiyyat hai 'obaid'
jaane kis baat pe kis shaKHs ki baKHshish hogi
