جب ساز کی لے بدل گئی تھی

وہ رقص کی کون سی گھڑی تھی

اب یاد نہیں کہ زندگی میں

میں آخری بار کب ہنسی تھی

جب کچھ بھی نہ تھا یہاں پہ ماقبل

دنیا کس چیز سے بنی تھی

مٹھی میں تو رنگ تھے ہزاروں

بس ہاتھ سے ریت بہہ رہی تھی

ہے عکس تو آئنہ کہاں ہے

تمثیل یہ کس جہان کی تھی

ہم کس کی زبان بولتے ہیں

گر ذہن میں بات دوسری تھی

تنہا ہے اگر ازل سے انساں

یہ بزم کلام کیوں سجی تھی

تھا آگ ہی گر مرا مقدر

کیوں خاک میں پھر شفا رکھی تھی

کیوں موڑ بدل گئی کہانی

پہلے سے اگر لکھی ہوئی تھی
