اندیشوں کے شہر میں رہنا تیری میری عادت ہے
محرومی کے صدمے سہنا تیری میری عادت ہے
ارمانوں کی نازک مالائیں پہنانا شاموں کو
یاد پون کے ساتھ ہی بہنا تیری میری عادت ہے
خوب سلگتے جانا برفیلے لمحوں کے سایوں میں
دکھ کا ایک بھی لفظ نہ کہنا تیری میری عادت ہے
خوابوں سے بہلانا دل کو ہو جانا بے حد مسرور
لوگوں کی تعبیریں سہنا تیری میری عادت ہے
صبح ارادے دن تدبیریں شام خلش اور شب تشویش
ہر حالت میں زندہ رہنا تیری میری عادت ہے
قرب قیصرؔ بے بس ہونا دوری کا سہہ لینا روگ
جینے کی روداد نہ کہنا تیری میری عادت ہے

armanon ki nazuk malaen pahnana shamon ko
yaad pawan ke sath hi bahna teri meri aadat hai
KHub sulagte jaana barfile lamhon ke sayon mein
dukh ka ek bhi lafz na kahna teri meri aadat hai
KHwabon se bahlana dil ko ho jaana behad masrur
logon ki tabiren sahna teri meri aadat hai
subh irade din tadbiren sham KHalish aur shab tashwish
har haalat mein zinda rahna teri meri aadat hai
qurb-e-'qaisar' be-bas hona duri ka sah lena rog
jine ki rudad na kahna teri meri aadat hai
