اتنا سناٹا ہے بستی میں کہ ڈر جائے گا

چاند نکلا بھی تو چپ چاپ گزر جائے گا

کیا خبر تھی کہ ہوا تیز چلے گی اتنی

سارا صحرا مرے چہرے پہ بکھر جائے گا

ہم کسی موڑ پہ رک جائیں گے چلتے چلتے

راستہ ٹوٹے ہوئے پل پہ ٹھہر جائے گا

بادبانوں نے جو احسان جتایا اس پر

بیچ دریا میں وہ کشتی سے اتر جائے گا

چلتے رہیے کہ صف ہم سفراں لمبی ہے

جس کو رستے میں ٹھہرنا ہے ٹھہر جائے گا

در و دیوار پہ صدیوں کی کہر چھائی ہے

گھر میں سورج بھی جو آیا تو ٹھٹھر جائے گا

فن وہ جگنو ہے جو اڑتا ہے ہوا میں قیصرؔ

بند کر لوگے جو مٹھی میں تو مر جائے گا
