چراغ لے کے نکلنا بڑا ہنر ہے میاں

پتہ چلے جو محبت کا درد لے کے چلو

مرے مکاں کی گلی کتنی مختصر ہے میاں

نہائیں گی مری ضو میں ہزار ہا صدیاں

میں وہ چراغ نہیں ہوں جو رات بھر ہے میاں

تمہاری رات پہ اتنا ہی تبصرہ ہے بہت

مکیں اندھیرے میں ہیں چاندنی میں گھر ہے میاں

لکھا ہے وقت نے صدیوں سفر کے بعد اسے

یہ دور جھوٹ سہی پھر بھی معتبر ہے میاں

ملے گی راکھ نہ تم کو ہمارے چہرے پر

بدن میں رہ کے سلگنا بڑا ہنر ہے میاں

اب انتظار کی طاقت نہیں رہی قیصرؔ

کچھ اور روز نہ سوچا تو سب کھنڈر ہے میاں
