اپنے دیوار و در سے پوچھتے ہیں

گھر کے حالات گھر سے پوچھتے ہیں

کیوں اکیلے ہیں قافلے والے

ایک اک ہم سفر سے پوچھتے ہیں

کیا کبھی زندگی بھی دیکھیں گے

بس یہی عمر بھر سے پوچھتے ہیں

جرم ہے خواب دیکھنا بھی کیا

رات بھر چشم تر سے پوچھتے ہیں

یہ ملاقات آخری تو نہیں

ہم جدائی کے ڈر سے پوچھتے ہیں

زخم کا نام پھول کیسے پڑا

تیرے دست ہنر سے پوچھتے ہیں

کتنے جنگل ہیں ان مکانوں میں

بس یہی شہر بھر سے پوچھتے ہیں

یہ جو دیوار ہے یہ کس کی ہے

ہم ادھر وہ ادھر سے پوچھتے ہیں

ہیں کنیزیں بھی اس محل میں کیا

شاہ زادوں کے ڈر سے پوچھتے ہیں

کیا کہیں قتل ہو گیا سورج

رات سے رات بھر سے پوچھتے ہیں

کون وارث ہے چھاؤں کا آخر

دھوپ میں ہم سفر سے پوچھتے ہیں

یہ کنارے بھی کتنے سادہ ہیں

کشتیوں کو بھنور سے پوچھتے ہیں

وہ گزرتا تو ہوگا اب تنہا

ایک اک رہ گزر سے پوچھتے ہیں
