دن کو مسمار ہوئے رات کو تعمیر ہوئے

خواب ہی خواب فقط روح کی جاگیر ہوئے

عمر بھر لکھتے رہے پھر بھی ورق سادہ رہا

جانے کیا لفظ تھے جو ہم سے نہ تحریر ہوئے

یہ الگ دکھ ہے کہ ہیں تیرے دکھوں سے آزاد

یہ الگ قید ہے ہم کیوں نہیں زنجیر ہوئے

دیدہ و دل میں ترے عکس کی تشکیل سے ہم

دھول سے پھول ہوئے رنگ سے تصویر ہوئے

کچھ نہیں یاد کہ شب رقص کی محفل میں ظفرؔ

ہم جدا کس سے ہوئے کس سے بغل گیر ہوئے
