میں جس کے ساتھ ظفرؔ عمر بھر اٹھا بیٹھا

وہ جانے آج ہے کیوں اجنبی بنا بیٹھا

شکایت اس سے نہیں اپنے آپ سے ہے مجھے

وہ بے وفا تھا تو میں آس کیوں لگا بیٹھا

جو میرے واسطے بنیاد تھا محبت کی

میں اس خیال کی دیوار ہی گرا بیٹھا

بلند پرچم عزم سفر میں کیا رکھتا

مرے قریب ہی میرا غبار آ بیٹھا

سماعتوں کی فصیلوں پہ ایسا پہرہ تھا

کہ پھڑپھڑاتا ہوا طائر صدا بیٹھا

ملا وہ رات مجھے محفل مسرت میں

تو میں ادب سے نہیں دکھ سے دور جا بیٹھا

ظفرؔ بتاؤ اسے ہاتھ کیا لگا سکتا

جسے میں دیکھ کے بینائی ہی گنوا بیٹھا
